Tourists are allowed now to cross the Atal Tunnel Rohtang. The decision to close the tunnel for tourists was taken only once after Inauguration when the sudden hike in COVID-19 positive cases in Lahoul and Spiti and 2nd time later in 2021 after the mess which was created by tourists in the Atal tunnel which became headline of newspaper as well but now tourists can cross the Atal tunnel.

Atal Tunnel(Rohtang Tunnel) Timing and rules/instructions:
Maintenance Time: From 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the morning
and from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the evening.
> The tunnel remains closed twice a day for 1 hour for maintenance activity. Also inside the tunnel, the speed limit should be 40 to 60 km/hour. The decision to close the tunnel for one hour is taken due to the maintenance activity which is being carried out twice a day.
The tunnel may remain closed for tourists during snowfall, This action is taken by the HP Government for the safety of the tourists.

The only Prime Minister who was respected to Opposition leader as well. Naming the tunnel after him is a tribute to his legacy and service to the nation. The tunnel, which is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, is a strategic infrastructure project aimed at providing all-weather connectivity to the remote regions of Lahaul and Spiti Valley and Leh-Ladakh as well in summers. |
